Job Summary/Essential Functions:

The Director of Human Resources supports all departments at Carondelet Center in all aspects of strategic and tactical HR. This includes providing strategic and operational HR advice, coaching, and development as well as serving as the subject matter expert on HR best practices, employment law and employee relations. The essence of this role is to understand the business operations and the spirit, values, goals, and vision of Carondelet Center and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet to ensure we have fulfilled employees, smooth operations and a community where we can grow together. This is a hands-on and active role.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Human Resources leadership role.
  • PHR, SPHR, GPHR or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English / Spanish preferred.

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of California and federal labor law as well as extensive knowledge of FLSA, FMLA (and similar California leave laws), ADA, workers compensation/OSHA regulations and procedures, discrimination/harassment investigation and defense procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve and professionally interact with individuals and groups in a courteous and professional manner, and the ability de-escalate situations before they become unpleasant or hostile.
  • Energetic and focused personality with demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully prioritize multiple and complete competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.
  • Must be professional, articulate, and able to use discretion and sound independent judgment.
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills are required to effectively communicate and interact with everyone in the community. Must have the ability to articulate policies and procedures in a clear, concise manner.
  • Excellent writing skills with demonstrated experience crafting policies, procedures, job descriptions and other HR related documents.
  • Must be able to read financial information and present numbers effectively.
  • Demonstrated successful recruiting experience with the drive and creativity required to effectively fill vacancies.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

This job primarily operates in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. The employee must frequently lift, carry and/or move objects like files and ledgers up to 10 pounds. The employee must be able to self-transfer and move throughout the facilities, between buildings, and around campus. The employee must have visual acuity to prepare and analyze reports and data.

All employees are required to show proof of being vaccinated against COVID-19.
